Sports and personal growth
Sport is a very powerful tool to shape the character of people.
As parents and educators, when we think of sports competitions in which our children take part, we tend to think that the primary objective of sports is to be an escape route for the child, overburdened with studies and responsibilities, and that it also helps them to rest better at night.
However, sports include many tasks that will provide our children with a solid foundation that will help define and shape their character.
Before practicing sports, they should: Prepare their backpack, go to bed early, put on the alarm so they do not fall asleep, look for the location of the pitch where they will play, have trained during the week to be able to be summoned, have a diet that helps to practice sports, move to the pitch and meet with colleagues, prepare the match according to the coach’s instructions, build team chemistry.
During the development of the game they must: show respect to referees, to colleagues who fail, to the rival when he has a lower level and to the public; strive in the final minutes when the strength falters, beat the cold and rain, overcome a miss, make decisions in tenths of a second, ‘read the game’, encourage colleagues, compete with sportsmanship.
After the competition they have to: greet the opponent and the referee, encourage the partner who failed, help the coach to collect the material, talk with colleagues, strengthen friendship with teammates, let yourself be helped.
Apart from the personal benefit of physical exercise, we can conclude that all the tasks associated with it, also educate.
