Miguel Dionis wins 2021 IBSC Hawley-Jarvis Award

The IBSC annually awards an educator from among the almost 300 member schools from the 5 continents.

The International Boys’ Schools Coalition (IBSC) has announced the winner of the Hawley-Jarvis Award 2021: Miguel Dionis, Secretary General and Secondary Coordinator at Viaró Global School. The Hawley-Jarvis is the world’s highest award for single-sex education for boys.

This award is a recognition of Viaró Global School and Miguel, for their work in research about the best practices in boys’ schools.

Viaró Global School has been a member of the IBSC since 2011, and in 2018 Miguel joined the organization’s board of trustees for the UK – Europe region. In these years, teachers from various departments of the School have collaborated with colleagues from different countries in the educational innovation project IBSC Ideas Lab.

In 2017 Viaró organized the first international conference in continental Europe, in which one of the main characteristics and a really important topic for the School was dealt with: the relationship between Family and School. Viaró Global School was born as a paradigm of a new single-sex education focused on personalization, with the mission of helping parents in the education of each of their children, so that they freely contribute to improving society.

In 2020 Viaró was scheduled to host the IBSC Annual Conference, the most important global event of boys’ schools, which brings together more than 600 educators from around the world each year.

Due to the pandemic, the event had to be postponed; This award is an impetus to continue working to make the IBSC Annual Conference 2024 at Viaró Global School a success (we are counting on you!).
